The Laughing Cavalier
The Laughing Cavalier, by Frans Hals, is one of my favourite paintings. Although he isn't really laughing, and he isn't a cavalier. I'd say he's smirking, and wouldn't you, if you were wearing such a great hat?
You can see The Laughing Cavalier at the Wallace Collection in London, where it is on display in the Great Gallery. I'd recommend a visit!
